Member Information

Due to our size, in order to rehearse safely during COVID we are encouraging any people interested in playing with us to please send an email mentioning your name, contact information, and what you play. Concert

Preparations

We rehearse every Thursday at 7:30 PM at Lakota East Freshman School from October through April, excluding holidays.

Want to practice in between rehearsals?  Of course you do!  Check out the link below to access recordings of the music we'll play for the next concert.

Concerts

The band typically plays 3 concerts a year  in December, March, and late April or early May.  These concerts are usually at Finkelman Auditorium on the campus of Miami University Middletown.  We often also play at least one summer concert outside. Occasionally, we play a joint concert with another musical group.

Concert dress for men is a black suit, white shirt, and either a black tie or, for the holiday concert, a holiday tie.  Tuxes are also ok.  Concert dress for ladies is all black. Click below for the upcoming season schedule.

Band

Fees

The Southwestern Ohio Symphonic Band is a self-supporting community band. While we receive donations from patrons and sponsors, we rely on membership fees from the band members to pay for operating expenses, such as purchasing music or buying insurance for the use of Lakota's percussion equipment.  However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the extraordinary circumstances of the past 21 months, we are suspending with dues for the 2021-2022 season.

Because we are instituting a vaccine mandate this season, we do still ask that you fill out a Member Registration Form to document that you are vaccinated against Covid-19. Forms are available at rehearsal, or you can download one below.
